It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and we start to feel this atmosphere even in the food we are choosing for. As delicious and healthy do not have to be opposite, here is a quick and tasty snack you can try in the mornings or, even better, thorough the day when you want something sweet, but not necessarily a chocolate or a cake.
Apple Banana Nuts Snack
a bunch of walnuts (or other nuts)
How to do it:
You simply have to take the apples, wash them carefully, cut them in two and place them in a tray with baking paper. Then, sprinkle the chopped nuts and some cinnamon. Bake in the oven until it is lightly browned and serve with banana sliced or whatever other fruits you may find at home.
Keep in mind this snack or dessert is very sweet so try not to “pair” it with something else sweeter, like adding honey.
Another way of preparing this recipe is by placing the apples on a steam grill (or, if you don’t have such grill, place the fruit on a larger sieve on a pot with water, on the cooker). Afterwards you add the nuts, banana and cinnamon.
*Apples, bananas and nuts are all allowed and permitted in endometriosis. Of course, in moderation – no more than 2-3 nuts a day. Pay attention, though, to cinnamon. While some say it detoxify the body and can lower inflammation, endometriosis patients with a high level of estrogen might experience an exacerbation of the symptoms. It is not a general rule, but it is good to know, so try it carefully at the beginning and listen to your body.
