Romanian/English version – Omega 3 si endometrioza – studii importante + experienta personala

RO: Omega 3 este un supliment pe care il iau de cel putin 3 ani. Prima data am citit despre beneficiile lui in endometrioza intr-un studiu de pe pubmed.com. S-a nimerit ca imediat dupa sa fac comanda pe iherb si sa optez pentru un brand foarte cunoscut, Solgar, dar o “versiune” de Omega 3 de care nu auzisem in Romania: Triple Strength.

Asta se intampla prin septembrie 2016, la 3 luni de la a doua mea operatie de endometrioza. Inca aveam ceva dureri si stiu ca dupa 1-2 capsule de Omega 3, durerile au trecut complet. De atunci am tras concluzia ca versiunea asta e superioara altelor, asa ca am decis sa o pastrez. (la final, dupa versiunea in limba engleza, gasiti 3 poze cu flaconul si eticheta).

De atunci, iau in mod constant, cu ceva pauze de 2-3 saptamani la 1-2 luni. Consider ca acest supliment a contribuit esential la faptul ca nu am avut niciodata aderente dupa operatie, insa sunt sigura ca beneficiile nu se opresc aici. P.S: am mai luat un brand diferit de Omega 3 cam 2 luni in acest interval, insa nu am fost la fel de multumita. Fac aceasta precizare pentru ca am scris un articol cumva adiacent acestui subiect.

Bineinteles, inainte de a lua si voi acest supliment, va rog sa vorbiti cu medicul vostru de familie pentru ca, din cate am citit, Omega 3 in doze mari poate interfera cu unele medicamente (in special anticoagulantele) sau poate da unele reactii adverse. Acum, ca ne-am lamurit cu experienta mea, iata ce studii m-au convins pe mine ca da, Omega 3 trebuie inclus in tot “protocolul acesta” de manageriere a endometriozei.

Nu voi intra in detalii, ci voi da doar titlul, sursa si cateva cuvinte despre concluzie. Restul research-ului va rog sa il faceti si voi sau sa i-l dati si medicului vostru, de orice specialitate ar fi el.

Concluzia: s-a demonstrat o semnificativa reducere a simptomelor la pacientele cu endometrioza carora li s-a administrat un protocol de suplimente alimentare (quercitina, curcumina, parthenium, nicotinamida, 5-methytetrahydrofolate si Omega 3/6).

2). Eficienta Vitaminei D si a acizilor grasi polinesaturati Omega 3 in endometrioza experimentala (studiu pe sobolani) >> https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28040129

Concluzia: Omega 3 PUFA a dus la o regresie semnificativa a implanturilor endometriozice. Vitamina D nu a fost la fel de eficienta in endometrioza ca Omega 3.

Concluzia: Alimentele bogate in Omega 3, suplimentarea cu N-acetilcisteina, vitamina D si resveratrol in asociere cu consumul de fructe si vegetale, de preferat organice, si cereale integrale exercita un efect protector, reducand riscul de dezvoltare sau o posibila recidiva a endometriozei.

English Version: Omega 3 and endometriosis – important studies + my own experience

EN: I have been taking Omega 3 for almost 3 years now. First, I read about its benefits in endometriosis on a study found on pubmed.com. Afterwards, I placed my order on iherb.com and I chose a very well-known brand, Solgar, but a version I hadn’t heard of in Romania till then, “Triple Strength”.

This was 3 months after my second  surgery and I still had some pains. After 1-2 pills of this type of Omega 3, my pains vanished completely. Since then I have come to the conclusion that this version, Triple Strength, is superior to all others I have tried before, and I should stick to it.

I believe this supplement is one of the best, one of the main reasons I never experienced adhesions after my second surgery, but I am pretty sure there are even more benefits.

Of course, before taking this supplement, please talk to your doctor because, from what I have read, Omega 3 in large doses can interfere with some medications or can give some side effects. Now, that I’ve shared my own experience, here some of the studies that convinced me that yes, Omega 3, must be included in this whole protocol of managing endometriosis.

I will not give details; just write the title, source and some words about conclusion. The rest of the research is up to you or your doctor.

1). Novel dietary supplement association reduces symptoms in endometriosis patients. >> https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29243819

Conclusion: A cohort of endometriosis patient was treated for 3 months with a composition including quercitin, curcumin, parthenium, nicotinamide, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, and omega 3/6. Using a VAS scale, we demonstrated a significant reduction of the symptoms in endometriosis patients treated with the dietary composition respect to the controls.

2). Efficacies of vitamin D and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on experimental endometriosis >. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28040129

Conclusion: Omega-3 PUFA caused significant regression of endometriotic implants. Vitamin D has not been as effective as omega-3 PUFA on endometriosis.

Conclusion: Foods rich in omega 3 with anti-inflammatory effects, supplementation with N-acetylcysteine, vitamin D and resveratrol, in addition to the increased consumption of fruits, vegetables (preferably organic) and whole grains exert a protective effect, reducing the risk of development and possible regression of disease. Dietary re-education seems to be a promising tool in the prevention and treatment of endometriosis.
